Best of Diploma 2025 – The Best Graduation Works of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts at HAB

🎨 This year, the future generations of artists are showcased in a unique new venue!
Every year, the Hungarian University of Fine Arts (MKE) organises the Best of Diploma exhibition, presenting the finest graduation works of its newly graduated students. This event is one of the most important opportunities in the Hungarian contemporary art scene to gain insight into the mindset and future-shaping visions of young creators.
New venue, new experience
In 2025, the exhibition will take place not at the university itself but at the HAB Contemporary Art Centre on Andrássy Avenue. This change offers visitors a fresh perspective, as HAB’s spaces uniquely combine bourgeois architectural heritage with progressive contemporary art.
What can you see at the exhibition?
The Best of Diploma 2025 exhibition features works from all the university’s renowned departments:
Painting
Sculpture
Printmaking
Intermedia
In addition, visitors can discover graphic design projects, stage design works, and graduation pieces from Hungary’s only restoration training programme. A special highlight this year is the introduction of the university’s newest department, Visual Arts, showcasing interdisciplinary and experimental creations.
Generational trauma, body image, artificial intelligence
The works of the 2025 graduates explore crucial topics such as the ethos of traumatised generations, the search for identity, body image, and AI-generated content. The exhibition offers artistic responses to the images of the digital world while raising new questions about the very boundaries of art.
Sculptures in the HAB park
The exhibition extends to HAB’s sculpture park, where visitors can view the sculptures of MKE students throughout the summer. This outdoor display creates a dialogue between the works and the architectural milieu of HAB’s surroundings.
Where art meets gastronomy at HAB
Before or after the exhibition, visitors are welcome to stop by Csók Bisztró, located within HAB, for specialty coffees, homemade cakes, and delicious brunch dishes. This culinary experience perfectly complements the artistic impressions, while the café’s playful and creative atmosphere further inspires reflection on the artworks viewed.
Accompanying programmes all summer long
Throughout the summer, the Best of Diploma exhibition will be enriched by various interdisciplinary accompanying programmes. Details will soon be available on the official websites and social media platforms of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and HAB
Contemporary Art Centre.
