Brunch favorite - Csók Bistro - Avokado Toast

Exhibition dates and regular opening hours checked on 28 September 2026.

Looking for something to do in Budapest when it rains? At Andrássy út 112, you can visit an exhibition at HAB and have brunch at Csók Bisztró in the same building. The SZÍNPhonia exhibition runs until 15 November 2026, while the bistro serves breakfast dishes throughout the day. You can plan an October get-together without relying on a dry afternoon.

Start with the gallery and sit down for lunch afterwards, or meet over brunch before seeing the exhibition. For a shorter visit, combine the art with coffee and dessert. Everyone comes to the same address, and you do not need to find another café between the two parts of your day.

These are ideas for a visit you arrange yourselves. Check table availability and gallery admission separately, as HAB and the bistro have different opening hours.

Where can you see an exhibition and have brunch in the same building in Budapest?

HAB art centre and Csók Bisztró share a building at Andrássy út 112 in Budapest. You can combine an exhibition with a meal without travelling between venues. Csók Bisztró serves all-day brunch, while gallery visits follow HAB's separate opening hours. Read more about our all-day brunch in Budapest if you are planning the food around your gallery visit.

This works for a couple or a group of friends who want to see some art and have time to talk afterwards. On a wet day, the shared address means there is no second outdoor journey to plan. If you want to join a guided tour or another advertised activity, check its booking requirements separately.

At the table, everyone can choose breakfast, a hot lunch or dessert. An afternoon arrival still leaves room for an egg-based brunch if that is what you fancy.

Which exhibition is on at HAB in October?

SZÍNPhonia: The Pécs School, also presented in English as Symphony in Colour, runs from 11 September to 15 November 2026 at Hungarian Art & Business. It brings together generations of artists connected with Pécs and marks the thirtieth anniversary of the University of Pécs Faculty of Music and Visual Arts.

Our guide to the Pécs School exhibition introduces the show and its background. Before an October visit, also check the official HAB programme calendar. Guided tours and other activities may have their own start times and participation requirements.

With Csók Bisztró in the same building, you can arrange brunch or lunch directly before or after the exhibition. The most useful detail to check first is when both places are open.

When are HAB and Csók Bisztró both open?

At weekends, Csók Bisztró opens at 09:00 and HAB opens at 10:00. On Thursdays, the bistro closes at 19:00 while HAB stays open until 20:00. Start with breakfast for an early weekend visit. If you want to use the gallery's later Thursday opening, eat beforehand.

  • Monday. Csók Bisztró: Closed; HAB gallery: Closed; Hours when both are open: None

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. Csók Bisztró: 10:00 to 19:00; HAB gallery: 10:00 to 18:00; Hours when both are open: 10:00 to 18:00

  • Thursday. Csók Bisztró: 10:00 to 19:00; HAB gallery: 10:00 to 20:00; Hours when both are open: 10:00 to 19:00

  • Saturday, Sunday. Csók Bisztró: 09:00 to 19:00; HAB gallery: 10:00 to 18:00; Hours when both are open: 10:00 to 18:00

We compared the published hours of Csók Bisztró and HAB on 28 September 2026. Use the table to choose a suitable part of the day, then check available tables and the gallery programme. Public holidays or private events may change the usual opening times.

For example, if you plan to enter the gallery at 19:00 on a Thursday, finish your meal first: the bistro closes at that time. At weekends, you can plan the exhibition from 10:00 onwards after an earlier breakfast, allowing enough time to enjoy your food.

Three ways to plan your visit

For two: exhibition first, lunch afterwards

Start in the gallery and book your table for later, leaving enough time to look around without watching the clock. Allow a little space between the exhibition and the meal, particularly if this is your first visit to HAB.

Continue the conversation at Csók Bisztró. If you both enjoy eggs for brunch, choose two different Benedicts. If one of you would rather have lunch, the burger or Fekete Csók pasta are options too. Sharing the day does not mean you have to order the same type of meal.

This can work as a daytime date. Plan the meal so you have time to finish comfortably before the bistro closes at 19:00. If there is a particular guided tour you want to join, use its advertised starting time when deciding which part of the visit comes first.

With friends: brunch, then the gallery

If catching up is the first priority, meet at the table. The bistro opens at 09:00 on Saturday and Sunday, and at 10:00 from Tuesday to Friday. Match the exhibition visit to the gallery hours above.

You can look through the menu together beforehand. Sweet or savoury pancakes, the different Benedicts, and a croissant roll with butter and homemade jam offer different starting points. The Brunch Plate contains one of each of the four Benedict variations. If you want to share, ask our team for help choosing a suitable amount for your group.

You do not have to stay together for every moment in the gallery. You could each choose one work to show the others before leaving. It gives everyone room to follow their own interests and something specific to discuss afterwards.

A shorter stop: exhibition, coffee and dessert

If you have already eaten, pair the exhibition with coffee and cake. This also works when you have other plans nearby and want to meet between them.

Decide which part matters most. If the exhibition is the main reason for coming, start there and sit down afterwards. If seeing your friends is the priority, book a table first and see how much time you have for the gallery. Avoid assuming an exact duration for either part: viewing time depends on your pace, while service time depends partly on how busy the bistro is.

You can read about the Csók Bisztró pastry kitchen and desserts before your visit and check the day's selection when you arrive.

What can you choose for brunch?

Visiting Csók Bisztró for the first time? The current menu includes breakfast dishes available throughout the day, as well as bistro dishes for lunch. A later visit does not rule out your usual brunch favourite.

Four Benedicts with different toppings

All four have a croissant roll, free-range egg and brown butter hollandaise sauce as their base. Choose by the toppings: the “Csók” Benedict comes with Serrano ham, while the “Csók” Royale has smoked salmon. Extra Florentine features baby spinach and avocado. The “Csók” Special adds bacon, red onion jam and fried onion.

If you like bacon and onion together, look at the Special. Choose Royale for salmon, or Florentine for spinach and avocado with your eggs. These differences make it easier to decide by taste rather than relying on the dish names alone.

Sweet or savoury pancakes

The “Csók” Torony, called Kiss Tower on the English menu, combines American pancakes with mascarpone, vanilla, “Csók” syrup and fresh fruit. It is an option if you prefer a sweet breakfast. The Creamy Pancake Tower is savoury, with herb curd cream, red onion jam and avocado.

Keep the distinction in mind when ordering. Someone suggesting pancakes may be thinking of a savoury brunch rather than something sweet. Both styles can sit alongside the egg dishes at a shared table.

If you would rather have lunch

The “Csók” Burger comes in a croissant roll with a beef patty, bacon, cheese, vegetables and burger sauce, served with fries. Fekete Csók, listed as Black Kiss on the English menu, is black pasta with smoked cheese sauce, baby spinach and parmesan. Both are options for a meal after the exhibition.

For something sweet, Jeges Csók, or Ice Kiss, combines a croissant roll with salted caramel ice cream and caramel sauce. If one person wants lunch and another only wants dessert, you can still meet around the same table.

Three questions to try in the gallery

You can give yourself a few simple things to look for while viewing the exhibition. Read the artwork labels as you go, and use these questions to start a conversation if a particular picture catches your attention.

Which work did you notice first, and why? Perhaps a colour drew your eye, or the size or shape stood out. Take a closer look, then read the information beside the work. Does that change what you notice?

What do you each see in the same artwork? Choose a work and spend a moment looking at it separately before comparing impressions. You may notice different details. You do not have to agree for the conversation to be interesting.

Which work would you return to before leaving? If you have time, go back to a piece you are still curious about. Seeing the rest of the exhibition may give you another way to look at it.

These are suggestions for exploring at your own pace. For a guided visit, check HAB's advertised programme and booking details.

How do you plan your arrival and table booking?

The address is 1062 Budapest, Andrássy út 112. By public transport, approach from Bajza utca or Hősök tere on the M1 underground line. The bistro and gallery share a building, but a table booking does not register you for a separately advertised HAB activity.

Book ahead if you need your meal to fit a particular time. Use the opening-hours table to work out the order of your visit, then check the gallery's programme for the day.

Between 1 and 18 October 2026, the National Restaurant Week menu is another option: three courses for 8,900 HUF per person, including service. For that offer, book through the CSÓK Restaurant Week profile. Use our own table reservation page for a regular brunch booking.

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to visit the exhibition if we only want brunch?

You can visit the bistro on its own. Combining lunch with an exhibition is a programme suggestion, not a condition of booking a table.

Can I order eggs for breakfast in the afternoon?

Yes. Breakfast dishes are available throughout the day, so you can choose a Benedict or another brunch dish after the exhibition.

Does a table booking also reserve a place on a guided tour?

No. Check the booking requirements for HAB's advertised activities with the gallery separately.

Can we eat at CSÓK after a late Thursday gallery visit?

Csók Bisztró normally closes at 19:00 on Thursdays, while HAB stays open until 20:00. If you visit the exhibition during its final hour, plan your meal before the gallery.
